La raíz negra en los países de América Latina continúa, hasta ahora, sujeta a discriminación en varios niveles. En el caso de las mujeres, una de las manifestaciones más representativas de la negación de la negrura es alisar el cabello, porque para una sociedad influenciada por el occidentalismo blanco y heteropatriarcal, el cabello rizado es llamado "pelo malo" e incluso "cabello sucio". En varias áreas del Caribe y Brasil, niñas de edades muy tempranas se someten a tratamientos invasivos y dolorosos que dañan el cuero cabelludo desde la raíz, sólo para parecer "más bonitos" y "más limpios"

Quieren ser aceptadas.

Por lo tanto, quiero presentar a las mujeres con cabello natural, orgullosas de su rizado. Porque el cabello así, libre de sustancias químicas, tiene un significado mucho mayor que el meramente estético: se trata de reivindicación, resistencia y apropiación de la identidad de raíz africana. Es dejar de lado las presiones sociales y aceptar con orgullo la negritud y la belleza natural.

Todo pelo es pelo bueno.

Black root is still being subject to discrimination at various levels. In the case of women of Latin America countries, specially from the Caribbeans and Brazil, one of the most representative manifestations of denial of blackness is hair straighten, because for society influenced by white and hetero-patriarchal occidentalism, curly hair is called "bad hair" and even "dirty hair". Girls just want to be accepted. From very early ages they undergo to invasive and painful treatments that damage the scalp from the root, just to look "prettier" and "cleaner".

Therefore, I want to present women with natural hair, proud of their curly. Because natural curly hair, free of chemicals, has a much greater significance than merely aesthetic: it is about vindication, resistance and appropriation of the identity of the African miscegenation. It\'s putting aside social pressures and accepting with pride the negritude and the natural beauty.

All hair is good hair.
